Clark County Council Holds Five Elected District Members

The Clark County Council currently operates with five members elected from individual districts across the county. Sue Marshall of District 5 serves as council chair, with Glen Yung representing District 1, Michelle Belkot representing District 2, Wil Fuentes representing District 3, and Matt Little representing District 4.

The council holds legislative authority for Clark County, including adopting the annual budget, developing planning and zoning policies, making appointments to advisory boards, and passing county ordinances. Regular meetings are held at 10 a.m. on the first and fourth Tuesdays of each month, and at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday. Second Tuesday meetings at 1 p.m. are scheduled only as needed.

The body has undergone several structural changes in recent years. Formerly known as the Board of County Commissioners, it became the Board of County Councilors on Jan. 1, 2015, following a home rule charter approved by voters in November 2014. The council expanded from three to five members on Jan. 1, 2016, with members elected at the district level. The current name, Clark County Council, was adopted in January 2018.

At the start of each year, councilors vote to select a chair and vice chair. The council is also involved in oversight of the I-5 Interstate Bridge Replacement Program.
